Rosh Ha-Shanah

Description
Rosh HaShanah is the Jewish New Year, a time for joy and reflection.
In Hebrew, the name of the holiday means “Head of the Year.” Jews reflect on their actions over the past year and consider how to make the world a better place. Rosh HaShanah marks the beginning of the ten-day period of “Yamim Noraim,” or “Days of Awe,” which concludes with Yom Kippur.
Rosh HaShanah is celebrated on the first day of the month of Tishrei, which falls in September or October in the common calendar.
During the Rosh HaShanah season, it is customary to eat challah as a symbol of eternal life.
